Big news!

What better way to get back into the blogging world than with some great news. Thomas has cut his first teeth! Read that again, that's teeth not tooth. They're the teeth on his bottom gum at the front. I'd upload a photo of his tiny teeth but they're too small at the moment. I can't even imagine how we'll get a photo anyway.

That's not all the news. Thomas has just started clapping! He's been very close to clapping himself because he has been putting his hands on the outside of our hands when we clapped. Last week, as he was about to go to sleep he clapped his hands together. Then he did it more the next day during his swimming lesson.

Since it's been some time since we last blogged I'll try to catch up with some other things:
- Thomas is now 7 and a half months old.
- He can sit up by himself but still needs things around him (eg. pillows, people, etc) just in case he falls backwards or sideways.
- A few weeks he started splashing the water in the bath which was hilarious. We have a video of that so I'll put that up soon.
- Thomas loves watching Lola. He thinks Lola is so funny when she runs around the backyard or chases a ball.

Plus there's heaps of photos of Thomas and how he's growing:

Thomas 5 months

Thomas 6 months

Thomas 7 months

Plus heaps more. You can check out all the latest albums of Thomas by going here:

Videos

Thomas has hit the big screen! Well, the screen on your computer at least. We've just purchased a new video camera especially for Thomas and we'll be uploading videos of him to Youtube. You can view all his videos at http://www.youtube.com/thomasbatman.

Meanwhile, here's his first video:

Here are the rest:

A smile?
Bath time
Playmat
Rocker thinking

UPDATE: I've updated this post to link to all the videos on youtube. Should've done it this way in the first place.

It's a boy and his name is Thomas!

Today is a very special day. It is the day my son was born at 10:18am, weighing 3.545kg (7 pounds 13 oz), measuring in body length 52cm (20.5 inches) and head 32cm. That's him on the right there.

Linda is doing great after all she has gone through but is just is ecstatic as I am with the latest addition to our family. Thanks to everyone's messages of support and love. We really do appreciate it.

You can find more photos of our new baby here.

Today was pretty special before the events at 10:18am though because it's my father in law Neil's birthday. So happy 57th Neil! Also, a happy 30th to newly crowned uncle Scott last Saturday and the same for good mate Downsey on Sunday. Congrats to Kiera on winning the baby tipping contest as well! She just pipped Neil to the post by an ounce.

Update: We named him Thomas Stuart Batman. I never thought that I'd name my children after me but Linda thinks Thomas looks a bit like me and Thomas Stuart has a pretty good ring to it. Little Thomas may have Mummy's nose though which can only be a good thing!

Finally

Who would believe it? I didn't and still am sceptical but I'm pretty sure I've made it. Lucky too, because I was really getting worried there for a while.

What am I talking about? Well, I've opened the door on manhood and I'm not looking back. That's right, never looking back.

I won't ever forget how, when or where it happened. It was two Sundays ago, the evening on the 20th of May 2007. I was at home standing there with a philips head screw driver in my hand, an instruction booklet and some left over screws and dowel. It was complete! The impossible was possible! I had assembled a chest of drawers from Ikea!

Even a comparison of the two drawers look almost identical except for the birch/white finish. The Aneboda three drawer chest with dimensions of W80xD40xH100cm. For your reference it's on page 115 of the current Ikea catalogue.

On the left is the Ikea model, and on the right is my creation taken on a mobile phone in bad light. I'm waiting on a call from Ikea to do their next catalogue, I'm a shoe in.

It was tough. I didn't think I'd make it but I did. I know someone who got a larger drawer set and also tried assembling it that same Sunday but unfortunately that someone is now in a psychiatric ward*.

So, what did I learn from all of this? That no matter what comes my way over the years from Ikea or any other furniture store, I'll be able to assemble it no worries. That's what I'm hoping anyway. Onwards and upwards I say.

Welcome

Hi. I've now redirected my old link to this new site http://stubatman.blogspot.com so please update your bookmarks. I hope you don't mind the change, I've tried to improve sections of my old site into this one.

All the photos of family and friends are here plus links to other blogs and videos. I'm just getting accustomed to the blogger site so I'm looking to keep the site getting better.

Unfortunately Picasa Web Albums do not have the random photo feature that gallery does so for the moment there won't be any pictures like before. There are a couple of other features missing from Picasa Web Albums but, just like all Google things, they keep getting better and I'm sure they'll get it going soon.

In other news, the nursery is coming along but has taken a back seat since we are renovating the kitchen. I'll try and get some photos for a before and after. We have the massive pantry in which has helped heaps so now we're just waiting on me to finish sorting out where everything will go. Then we'll get the gas, plumbing and electricals sorted.

Live Earth is coming up in Sydney and I'm hoping to get a ticket. It's a massive line up with Crowded House having recently reformed and it'll be the first show back in Oz.

Other than that little peanut is doing well. All checkups have been good so far. Linda is good as well and is enjoying getting new maternity clothes. We do have a DVD of an unltrasound so I'll try and get some pictures from that and maybe put a small clip of it up.

Happy Mother's Day this Sunday for all the mum's out there!

Moving with the times

It's about time I sorted my site out and moved all my photos, content, etc. off a server at work and somewhere more stable. So I've moved all my photos over to Picasa online and I'm now posting on this blog because I was never going to update the design (if you could call it that) on my old site.
